ARTS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES “GREAT EXPECTATIONS”

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council will be throwing a gala party with a Dickensian theme of “Great Expectations” on Saturday, January 15, at 7:00 pm at the Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at the Depot.  Although the Arts Council is thanking its current members by admitting them to the catered festivity free of charge, the entire community is invited to attend.

The event is “Steamboat formal,” while attendees are encouraged to don their most outré Victorian or steampunk garb to truly get into the spirit of the occasion.  “Many surprises await our guests,” said Arts Council program manager Park Myers.  “We are going to completely transform the Depot into an ivy-clad, cobwebed Satis House,” he added, referring to the decrepit mansion inhabited by Miss Havisham in the novel.

The fête’s theme reflects the Arts Council’s metaphoric reemergence in recent years as a robustly active and vital participant in the Yampa Valley’s art scene.  “We are throwing this party to thank, and celebrate with, the community that supports this enduring organization,” said the Arts Council’s executive director, Clark Davidson.

Party-goers should come prepared to eat, drink and dance.  Marno’s Custom Catering will provide indulgent hors d’oeuvres, and beer, wine and liquor will be available.  Tickets for non-members are $20, available at the Depot Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 am to 5 pm.

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and support the arts in the Yampa Valley.  It is located at 1001 13th Street in Steamboat Springs in the Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at the Depot.  For more information, please visit steamboatspringsarts.com or call (970) 879-9008.
